Will the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise fail now that Disney has confirmed Johnny Depp will never return as Captain Jack? It could either be the final nail in the coffin of an ailing franchise, or it could be the best thing to happen to the Pirates franchise in over 13 years. I understand and appreciate that there is a resurgent wave of sympathy that has been swelling of late for Johnny Depp. But for the purposes of this answer, let us leave aside his ugly legal entanglement with Amber Heard. The Pirates franchise has been sinking since 2007. After At World’s End, the franchise has been steadily submerging deeper and deeper into mediocrity, and with 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales, it finally went all the way down to Davy Jones’ locker; the film was atrocious. Depp was the crown jewel of the original trilogy. He created something truly special with Jack Sparrow, who is a character for the ages. If you google their names together, you’ll find an abundance of pictures of them together, quite cosy and couple-y. In retrospect, it’s pretty obviously a cover-up and rather funny — because in 2014, Ellen Page came out as a lesbian woman. And in 2018, she got married to her now-wife, Emma Portner. Her whole style changed since she came out, and now she looks a million times happier and more herself! Funny how things work out in the end. This sort of thing was a lot more common in Hollywood in the olden days, and couples wouldn’t just date to appear straight, hell, they’d even enter ‘lavender marriages’ of convenience only to blend in better with society. Thankfully, in 2019 this isn’t neccessary anymore in most of the first world.

What was your reaction to Meghan Markle sharing that she had a miscarriage? A lot of people seem to dislike Meghan Markle an awful lot. She wanted to be the new Diana, but folks in the UK apparently regard her as the new Wallis Simpson instead. I’m not sure what to think, I don’t have any particularly strong opinions on Ms. Markle and her husband. I don’t like her particularly much but I do not also dislike her with a passion. A miscarriage is a tragedy whoever it happens to. And she has every right to open up and share of her misfortune, as talking about it might help her get some closure.
